Casual Magic: The Gathering
A casual magic player\'s decklists. Some decks more casual than others, some decks win more than others, and other decks built around wacky combos -- but all a lot of fun to play. I\'ve never attended any tournaments or release parties, but I\'ve been a casual player for years. (Some people take this game way too seriously.)

New Card - Krond the Dawn-Clad
2012-05-18 10:23:00
Now that the high from the Avacyn Restored pre-release and Pro Tour is dying down it seems that WotC is ready to start rolling out the Planechase 2012 preview cards:
First Impression
Nicely costed for a 6/6 flying vigilance, but hard to cast. Krond is so specific for evenly balanced green & white decks and yet I wouldn't mind if WotC printed more of these. I understand you can't overdue
Crack-a-Pack #3
2012-05-02 01:27:00
You're drafting The Mighty Morphin' Cube. It's pack 1, pick 1 and you open the following cards:
What would you pick?
If I opened these cards, here's what my initial evaluation would be:
Selesnya Signet and Talisman of Indulgence - As always, I don't think mana rocks are worth first picking in good packs and this pack is a good one.
Lay Waste - This is probably going to be one of the
Crack-a-Pack #2

You're drafting The Mighty Morphin' Cube. It's pack 1, pick 1 and you open the following cards:
What would you pick?
If I opened these cards, here's what my initial evaluation would be:
Talon Sliver, Necrotic Sliver, and Gemhide Sliver - Much like in Crack-a-Pack #1, this turned out to be a sliver heavy pack. (Statistically speaking, there should be exactly 2 slivers per pack, on
Mighty Morphin' Blog #17 - Enduring Renewal
2012-04-27 04:34:00
I have to apologize for being all over the place with some of these more recent changes to The Mighty Morphin' Cube. I haven't been cataloging everything and some of the changes I keep going back-and-forth on. Some of the times I re-introduce a card is when it was initially borderline for the Cube, but then later ends up having really good synergy with a brand new addition. The following is
Helvault Contents Spoiled
2012-04-26 01:42:00
The following pics are coming from @JffrsnByPrxy on Twitter. It looks like someone has pre-maturely cracked one of the Helvaults prior to the pre-release this weekend and at least 3 of the items inside have been spoiled:
Over-Sized Angels
Double-Faced Angel & Demon Tokens
Avacyn Restored Spin-Down Life Counters
Of the over-sized angels, Sigarda, Host of Herons is shown and I
Crack-a-Pack #1

You're drafting The Mighty Morphin' Cube. It's pack 1, pick 1 and you open the following cards:
What would you pick?
If I opened these cards, here's what my initial evaluation would be:
Exalted Angel - One of the best morph creatures in the Cube and it's in white, which is the color with the most enablers to flip morphed creatures. Unfortunately, Flicker is also in this pack. That
Mighty Morphin' Blog #16 - The Spy Network (Part 3)
2012-04-23 01:26:00
Just like in parts 1 and 2, an update to the spy network means additional ways to spy the secret identities of opposing morphed creatures (and occasionally reveal the identities of your own morphed creatures to your opponent). And we do this with a pair of faeries and more discard:
The more the total dollar value of the Cube becomes, the more I'm convinced that the rest of my collection
Mighty Morphin' Blog #15 - Rejecting Jace, the Mind Sculptor
2012-04-22 01:48:00
As crazy as this may seem -- for the good of the Cube -- I spent a good amount of time yesterday debating whether or not to click a "but it now" button on eBay for Jace, the Mind Sculptor. I've never owned a copy, I've always wanted to play with one, and the last time I checked he was valued at roughly $100 a piece. If you go on eBay right now, you can pick one up for $50-60. Oh, Jace, how I
Mighty Morphin' Blog #14 - Decrees of Annihilation & Silence
2012-04-21 05:13:00
I've decided include the last two remaining decrees to the Cube. There are a few cycling cards that are underwhelming, the Cube needed a few more non-creature bombs, and the remaining decrees seemed like a good fit:
OUT:
- Choking Tethers
- Scrap
IN:
+ Decree of Annihilation
+ Decree of Silence
Let's talk about removal a little bit.
I know I wrote several paragraphs about "catch-all"
The Move from Legacy to Cube
2012-04-20 20:20:00
Selling off my entire collection is something that I've been wanting to do for a long time, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Me and Magic go way back. I still like the game (as am probably as addicted as ever), but I just don't play that much these days. I've said this many times on this blog, but playing physical magic cards just isn't something that my (old) play group ever does
