Importing a Foreign Vehicle into Mexico

Recently, I wrote an article about importing foreign vehicles into Mexico. On Tuesday of this week, I attended a seminar given by a Mexican Customs Official about this very topic. So, I have expanded my original article to include the important points from the seminar. Please note that this information applies to cars being driven into Mexico with foreign (Canada, USA) license plates. As an FYI, I recently posted info about shipping your vehicle into Mexico via ferry boat, rather than driving it in. You can find that article here. A) How many vehicles can you import with a Temporary Import Permit (TIP)? You are allowed a total of one imported vehicle per person. The vehicle's title must be in the name of the person importing it. B) What documentation do you need to import your vehicle? Passport Valid Immigration Document [See Section E) below.] Vehicle Title OR Current Registration - Whichever you document present would need to be in the name of the person

On Monday, I had the pleasure of taking the photography workshop that Puerto Morelian, Micheal Maurus, is offering each Monday and Saturday. If you own an SLR camera (the kind that you can change the lenses on) and you are relegated to taking photos on "automatic" setting, YOU MUST TAKE THIS WORKSHOP! If you are a more advanced photographer, some of the basic info may be old hat, but I am confident that Micheal has lots of tricks up his sleeves to share with you to improve your pics. One day I would love to while away my days leisurely taking photos, but at the moment my photography needs are much more utilitarian in nature. I am busy capturing photos of Real Estate Listings, snapshots for this blog, and occasionally a photo of my kids -- when I remember to do so ;) Until today, I had never had any type of photography instruction, so terms like f-stops, aperture, focal length, and shutter speeds were a foreign language to me. Bringing you the latest news on the upcoming Dragon Mart Project: The project's official website is online: http://dragonmart.org/english/index.asp Interestingly, the website still contains the grand opening date of December 2012. Yet, this recent article states that permits are not yet complete, and construction hasn't yet begun. Perhaps, a December 2012 opening date is a bit optimistic. The project is slated to include: 100,000 square meters / 1,076,000 square feet of exhibition space 84 hectares / 208 acres Total of 235,000 square meters / 2,528,600 square feet of total construction, which will include the construction of 4000 homes to accommodate 2500 Chinese workers. It was recently announced that Sir Paul McCartney has been invited to play a concert in Chichen Itza. The date for his concert has yet to be announced, but it is speculated to be in March/April of 2012. The concert will be the latest in a series that has included Placido Domingo, Sarah Blackman, and Elton John. The concert announcement isn't welcomed by all parties. The INAH, a group of archaeologists, is collecting signatures on a petition to express their disagreement with the concerts: Sir Paul McCartney, You enjoy great public fame due to your musical and business talents. With the former, you changed and shook the ancient constraints of two-faced Victorian morality … The music and lyrics of you and John Lennon, as well as George Harrison and Ringo Starr, contributed to the new configurations of social imagination of much of the western world.
