2012-05-20 11:40:23
If you have been planning a cruise out of Port Canaveral and have set aside $15 a day for parking you’re going to need a little more cash. $15 to be exact. Port Canaveral within the last month or so has shifted from $15 a day to a set fee for cruise parking which is [...]
Disney Dream Review with Pics – Cabin 7021
2012-05-05 19:08:24
My wife and I have always talked about going on a Disney cruise because well… we love cruising and we love Disney (no brainer, right?). The prices which can in some cases be twice as much as comparable cruises however have kept us from pulling the trigger. That and the fact we never had kids [...]
Cruising with a Six Month Old – What We Learned
2012-04-15 12:08:59
I’m a little late getting around to this post considering our six month old is now 14 months old and getting ready to go on his second cruise. Maybe by the time he is 2 I’ll have the Cruising with a one year old post ready…Hey better late than never right. Anyway, I thought this [...]
Music for Cruising – My Favorite Cruise Music
2012-04-10 21:40:17
Grab a lounger, your ipod and a few of these cruise songs and you are ready for a perfect day at sea or a relaxing day at the beach. Some of my best cruise memories are just lying under the sun watching the waves with a great song playing through my earphones. Ive been meaning [...]
Best Summer Cruises of 2012 – Caribbean
2012-03-24 12:19:36
Summer is almost here and that means its time you start thinking about a summer vacation. For many cruise fans like myself that means hours of research looking for just the right summer cruise vacation. For me its always a balancing act of price, itinerary and cruise line. This year I thought I would slap [...]
Beers of the Caribbean – Famosa
2012-03-20 17:20:08
As I mentioned on my last review of Carib beer I picked up a few suspect bottles of Caribbean beer from the local liquors r us. If I thought Carib was bad, it was nothing compared to the assault on my nostrils upon opening the Guatemalan beer, Famosa. I wasn’t really expecting this to be good considering it was purchased in Georgia where I guess it probably sat on a shelf for months as beer snobs took one look at the bottle, laughed and moved on down the line of Belgium beers and other worthy imports. As for the taste… not the worst beer I’ve ever had (that award goes to Shlitz Ice) but still not something I hope to ever try again. Last time we were in Belize the locals told us how you had to watch out for the Guatemalans…guess they didn’t want any of this tainted firewater being ...
Cruising to Key West – Not all its Cracked up to Be
2012-03-17 16:42:44
When I think I Key West, I think of three things… Key lime pie, magical sunsets and the bridges connecting the keys. When you cruise to Key West you are only going to get to experience the pie. That’s because A. You’re not driving and B. you have to set sail before sunset. Sadly, most cruises don’t even stay past lunch. My wife and I cruised to Key West on the Celebrity Millennium for our honeymoon and the ship left the Key West cruise terminal at 1pm. Most of the lunch spots didn’t even open til 11. Luckily the port is pretty close to all the action and well within walking distance of Duval Street so we were able to catch a quick bite before heading back to the ship. That’s why I say if you are planning your next cruise with Key West in mind… it m
5 Things I Hate About Cruising
2012-03-07 21:41:37
So after spending some time reading through some of the various complaint message boards online, I’ve decided to try and come up with a list of things I don’t like about cruising. Don’t get me wrong, I love cruising. I just thought it might be fun to come up with list. Plus there is something about reading those boards that always leaves a negative taste in my mouth. The list was actually harder to come up with than I thought it would be. Anyway… here goes 5 things I don’t like (hate is such a strong word) about cruising in no particular order. 1. Bingo I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised that cruise lines offer bingo on every single cruise considering the large amount of retirees on each cruise. Heck even Disney cruise lines has bingo and they don’t even allow casinos on their ships. Now I love gambling and have ...
Oh No! No more Mickey Bars on the Disney Dream Cruise
2012-03-03 17:11:37
Having just booked our first cruise with Disney on the Dream I came to learn that Mickey Mouse Ice Cream Bars could be had at both dinner and via room service. To say I was excited would be a bit of an understatement. Sure there will be white sand beaches, crystal clear waters and a pretty cool Aqua Duck, but the fact that apparently there was 24 hr access to Mickey Bars had the 12 yr old inside me jumping for joy. That excitement has come to a screeching halt this week as I have recently learned Mickey bars may no longer be available for those cruising on the Disney Dream. Plenty of rumors and guesses are out there as to why they are no longer being offered with the “somewhat official” word out of Disney is that it is a supplier issue. Others claim Disney is trying to cut cost ...
Beers of the Caribbean – Carib
2011-12-12 19:10:34
So its been too long since I posted a Caribbean beer review… mainly cause I ran out of pictures from our cruises that involved the actual beer bottle. Never fear… I have run out to the local liquors-r-us (Total Wine & Package) and made my own six pack of Caribbean beers. This is one suspect looking six pack of beers too. I mean if you went to the package store with the sole purpose of finding the worst looking beers on the shelf, its a safe bet you would have at least four of the ones I have chosen. First up on my six pack taste test is Carib Lager. It doesn’t get any more Caribbean than Carib. Heck its even called Caribbean Beer… says so right there on the bottle. Brewed in Trinidad, this beer can be found all over the Caribbean and even on several cruise ships. The golden ...
