METAL CASTING ( PATTERN )
2010-02-09 21:15:00
A pattern is a shaped form of wood or metal around which sand is packed in the mold. When the pattern is removed the resulting cavity is the exact shape of the object to be cast. The pattern must be designed to be easily removed without damage to the mold. It must be accurately dimensioned and durable enough for the use intended. Either one time use or production runs.PATTERN MAKING Each different item we wish to cast presents unique problems and requirements. In a large foundry there is a close relationship between the pattern maker and the molder. Each is aware of the capabilities and limitations of his own field. Throughout the industry, pattern making is a field and an art of it's own. The pattern maker is not a molder nor the molder a pattern maker. This is not to imply that the pa
Most Common Steel Types of Tools
2010-02-06 05:56:00
Steel is a ferrous metal . Ferrous metals include steel and cast iron . Most of the tools are made from one of seven different types of steel. Each has its own unique characteristics and use. Generally speaking. The types are, from cheapest to most expensive, Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, High Speed Steel, Cobalt Steel, Ferro-Tic Carbide, Carbide Tipped and Solid Carbide. Some types of tools are offered in more than one type of steel. Carbon Steels, which can include High Carbon Steel and High Alloy Steel, are the softest and usually the cheapest of the seven types . Many woodworking tools are made from this material. Many craftsmen like Carbon Steel because the tools are soft enough to sharpen with a file.&
Aluminium Alloy and aircraft

Aluminium Alloy There are many kinds of Alloys to choose from but often, Aluminium is chosen as it is lightweight (about 2700 kg/m3 density), it is comparatively soft and its process-ability is good. From a machining viewpoint pure aluminium (JIS A1000) greatly differs from Al-Cu alloy (JIS A2000) . Pure aluminium is easy to bend but it is difficult to process as it is too soft and easily clogs cutting tools. On the other hand, the Al-Cu alloy, such as A2011 or A2017 (called duralumin) is easy to handle and cut with several of the grades having strength similar to that of steel. However, one of the drawbacks of aluminium is that it is difficult to weld, solder and bend. It is very difficult to distinguish between the pure aluminum, the Al-Cu alloy and etc. Wh

Nickel & Important alloys depends on Nickel .
2009-04-16 11:19:00
Nickel and nickel alloys are non-ferrous metals with high strength and toughness, excellent corrosion resistance, and superior elevated temperature properties. Products differ in terms of composition, grade, shape, dimensions, and features. Commercially pure, unalloyed or very low alloy nickel does not contain or contains only very small amounts of alloying elements. By contrast, nickel alloys contain significant amounts of added elements or constituents. Clad or bimetal stock consists of two different alloys that are bonded integrally together. Metal matrix composites have a composite or reinforced metal or alloy matrix filled with a second component, which may be in particulate, chopped fiber, continuous filament, or fabric form. AS-440 instrument
2009-04-11 22:57:00
The AS-440 is a flexible instrument platform, designed to be a single tool for a range of service, maintenance, inspection and diagnostic applications. This simple, easy to use instrument has been developed with an intuitive user interface, making it ideal for use by either expert or non expert personnel alike. The AS-440 adopts a modular approach to measurement with individual packages available for specific types of analysis. This flexibility allows you to select the exact combination of features you require, and provides the ability to upgrade in the future should your needs change. The variety of analysis tools makes the AS-440 an ideal choice for use either as a field service tool, machinery diagnostic or production line quality testing tool The modular analysis package is base
Hercwatch software
2009-04-11 22:38:00
HercWatch Developed by Aero Support Ltd’s engineers, HercWatch™ is a response to an industry need to have an easy to use software program, which is capable of providing engine efficiency (performance) information directly at the flight line. Using information already available to the air and ground crew, from the cockpit instrumentation, the software is used to verify the engine performance and to store the available data for trend analysis. In addition to the rated performance point verification, the program also calculates the compressor efficiency at the 900°C point and will show the user if it is within the allowable limits. All the data entered is stored in a Microsoft® Access database, which, if required, can be exported into Excel for report gener

While polymer in popular usage suggests plastic, the term actually refers to a large class of natural and synthetic ...........Well-known examples of polymers include plastics and proteins. A simple example is polypropylene, whose repeating unit structure is shown at the right. However, polymers are not just limited to having predominantly carbon backbones,

They are typically crystalline in nature (have an ordered structure) and are compounds formed between metallic and nonmetallic elements such as aluminum and oxygen (alumina, Al2O3), calcium and oxygen (calcia, CaO), and silicon and nitrogen (silicon nitride, Si3N4). In broader terms ceramics also include glass (which has a non-crystalline or amorphous random structure), enamel (a type of glassy
