Benefits of Massage
2009-12-14 13:33:00
There are many physiological and psychological benefits of massage therapy which can help the average person stay healthy in a stressful world. For the Lyme sufferer, I would argue that massage is not a luxury, but rather a necessary strategy for healing in most cases. I have always favored healing modalities that are more hands on–sauna, rebounding, and massage over energy medicine, zappers, and supplements. Pills, tinctures, electrotherapy, and energy devices will only take the body to a certain point of healing. There is simply no replacing the need for physical movement therapy–exercise, sweating, and ringing out toxins from the muscles. If used properly, massage therapy can be a powerful ally in the fight for health.
Massage strengthens the immune system by increasing lymphatic flow. It also serves as a powerful detoxification strategy as toxins are literally flushed out of the muscles and delivered to the eliminatory organs. Massage also triggers the release of endorphins,
Lymelife Preview & Review
2009-12-08 13:24:00
The new movie Lymelife, starring Alec Baldwin, Jill Hennessy, Rory Culkin, and Emma Roberts has garnered a lot of positive attention from the Lyme community, but is it all it's cracked up to be?
Despite the gushing over the latest "Lyme flick," I was far from impressed by Derick and Steven Martini's Lymelife. Besides the unsavory flavoring of an already dull plot line with copious amounts of foul language, the movie wasn't even about Lyme Disease. The single character in the movie who actually suffers from Lyme Disease is only shown occasionally roaming the woods with a rifle looking for deer to shoot or sitting in his basement looking as though he's just suffered a psychotic breakdown. The praise that has been heaped on this film is astonishing in light of the fact that it is essentially about a group of selfish, mentally unstable adults, their selfish, mentally disturbed kids, and one misunderstood Lymie who gets left behind in the dust. It aids the Lyme Disease community in n
Bounce Yourself Healthy

Everyone knows the necessity for exercise. It's impossible to maintain a healthy lifestyle, much less recover from a serious illness like Lyme, without at least walking on a regular basis. Movement circulates lymph fluid, strengthens the body systems, and keeps immune function up. Unfortunately for spirochete-ridden bodies, regular exercise can be difficult, and sometimes even impossible.
Enter the rebounder, a simple, effective, safe way to work out which provides even more benefits than walking and other forms of exercise. A rebounder is essentially a miniature trampoline with low impact springs which prevent trauma to the body. The power of the rebounder is its ability to align of the forces of acceleration, deceleration and gravity in the same plane. By doing this, the force of gravity on the body's cells is tripled. The cells respond to this increased pressure by gaining strength, just as a weight lifter gains strength by increasing pressure on the muscles.

"But you look so good!"
2009-11-23 22:42:00
I'm sure that almost every Lyme sufferer on planet earth has heard this exclamation, smiled, said thank you in as polite a manner as is humanly possible, then proceeded to turn and kick the nearest available wall. Google the phrase in quotes and up will pop thousands of articles on invisible disability advocate sites, chronic illness blogs, and invisible disease groups. There are generally three types of people who tell the chronically ill person that he or she "looks great," each with a different connotation and each deserving a different response.
The Sympathetic Soul. Once in a while someone who has suffered some kind of physical illness (albeit one not as persistent as Lyme Disease) will tell you how great you look in spite of your illness. These types of people use a mild tone and say "Well, you look good," and tack on a "but I'm sure you get that a lot," at the end, acknowledging the fact that "looking good" is pretty irrelevant. This particular use of the "you look good" c

Choosing the Right Rife
2009-11-03 13:55:00
Choosing a Rife Machine can be a daunting task for the brain-fogged electronically illiterate lymie. There are a thousand and one websites professing to sell the very best Rife Machines out there... and there are way too many different types of Rife Machines, each with supposed advantages and disadvantages. Do you go with the fancy computerized one or the old analog? AC or DC? EMEM or Coil? Do you pay for what you get? Should you go for the snazzy new model with the high price tag or the one that looks like a torture device but costs less? And what about accessories? Do you need a contact device? If you have no clue what I'm talking about, I highly suggest that you start out by reading Bryan Rosner's book When Antibiotics Fail: Lyme Disease and Rife Machines to get a more complete pic
Detox, Detox, Detox!
2009-10-23 16:12:00
Just about every Lyme patient out there knows that detox plays an important role in recovering from any chronic illness, but oftentimes one's perception of "detox" is fairly limited. You sauna, drink lots of lemon water, and bounce on the rebounder everyday, so that's all there is to it, right? WRONG! Creating a comprehensive detoxification strategy and sticking to it is absolutely paramount to gaining the upper hand against this disease, and it's important to understand exactly what should be included in a detox regimen. Essentially there are six major areas of detoxification that need to be paid special attention to when treating Chronic Lyme Disease.Liver. The body's largest internal organ takes quite a beating when attempting to process massive amounts of dead bugs, heavy metals, and o
Why Sauna?
2009-10-02 09:34:00
For thousands of years people from different cultures and traditions have found a necessity for sweating. This is a foreign concept to most Americans. We seem to spend a lot of time and energy figuring out how not to sweat. We wear tight synthetic clothing that doesn't allow the skin to breath and slather on toxic aluminum deodorant in an effort to fit in with the clean shaven, fast paced society in which we live. And as a result, our bodies suffer big time.Sweating is an especially important component of healing for Lyme patients. It flushes damaging fat-soluble toxins (including heavy metals) out of the body via the skin pathway. This is extremely important to the healing process because these toxins prevent cells from regenerating. This expedites the aging process and dampens the immune

The HQ5 Zapper
2009-09-29 09:56:00
Most Lyme sufferers who have seen the full gamut of alternative Lyme therapies know about the vast array of "zappers" available on the market today. These zappers use various electrical impulses to kill off pathogens in the body without damaging healthy tissue. The problem is that there are so many zappers out there that it's hard to tell which ones are specifically effective against Lyme.I personally own two zappers; the one I want to talk about today is the Harmonic Quad - 5 or the HQ5 designed by Dr. James R. Overman. Dr. Overman claims that the HQ5 does indeed kill spirochetes. The machine uses square waves, which have been shown effective against Lyme Disease in the past, however I personally cannot prove or disprove this claim. I have no idea if this machine can effect
