No Nag Champa for a few weeks I’m afraid!
2011-01-13 15:38:20
We’re very sorry to say we’ve been so inundated with orders these last weeks, we’re completely out of Nag Champa until our new stock arrives from India. We’re truly sorry about this and will keep your updated on the arrival of the new batch. Until then, please don’t order any unless you’re prepared to wait a bit – for those who want something similar, perhaps try Moksha! With love, dhuni. Dhuni gets rave review!

A special thanks to the Olfactoryrescueservice.wordpress.com/ who have recently written some very nice things about us! These incense gurus call our organic nag champa incense blend, ‘the most authentic version of the (straight) scent I’ve smelled in 15 years or so…’ We are thrilled! It’s been our first year of trading and, hearing things like this, make it all worth while. A Merry Christmas to all. Just wanted to mention this company’s remarkable incense, eight champa/flora styles all made with the highest quality ingredients. What particularly impressed me was their nag champa, which is the most authentic version of the (straight) scent I’ve smelled in 15 years or so. I will have reviews of these coming up after the holidays but it would be remiss of me not

Another year passes…
2010-12-03 11:13:26
It’s about that time of year to close the curtains, make sure the fire’s well stoked, light a Dhuni natural incense stick and feel thankful for the things we’ve got. Gratitude is a nice thing to realise, however it appears the years turned out. Gratitude for this present moment which, in any case, is all there is… Here at Dhuni we’ve much enjoyed bringing your our selection of organic incense sticks this year, and we’ve been thrilled to receive so many nice letters and comments which tell us we’ve done something to be proud of. Thanks to all of you. For those of you who don’t feel the years turned out so great, and indeed for those who do, we offer this ancient Zen story to mull over while the snow falls…. There once was a herdsmen in r
Where can you buy our incense?
2010-11-29 14:53:21
We’ve been getting a lot of emails recently asking where you can buy Dhuni incense? I’m afraid you can only buy it in ONE place, which is right here. We produce it in India, then send it to the UK, and it reaches the world (well, for now) solely online. Obviously, being able to smell and handle it in person would be preferable but that hasn’t happened yet so you’ll just have to take our word that this isn’t one of those dodgy joss sticks from university, nor is it the semi decent agarbatti you may have smelt during a visit to Asia. This is an exceptional, once in a lifetime handrolled stick of perfection that is in a different league to anything we’ve ever smelt. It is made from solely natural botanicals grown and harvested in India. It is made without g

It’s not easy buying incense, even if you think you know what you’re looking for. During the years before we created dhuni, we literally searched most of Asia for an incense that met our requirements. We wanted something natural, ethical, luxurious and incredibly special! Finally, through luck or fate, we met a special incense master in Bangalore, with whom we would end up producing our range of incenses. Encountering this was like reaching the end of a long journey and knowing you’ve found ‘it’ at last. In one sublime waft it was clear that this man was a true master of his art, and that the ancient indian tradition of hand-rolling agarbatti was still alive and well. Here was something fragrant without being overpowering, intense without being cloying, and wh
Champa Incense

Indian incenses containing Plumeria, known in the West as frangipani, have Champa in their name. Champa incenses contain a semi-liquid resin (“halmaddi”) taken from the Ailanthus Malabarica tree, which gives them their characteristic grey color and damp texture: halmaddi is hygroscopic (it absorbs moisture from the air). Plumeria flowers are most fragrant at night in order to lure sphinx moths to pollinate them. The flowers have no nectar, and simply dupe their pollinators. The moths inadvertently pollinate them by transferring pollen from flower to flower in their fruitless search for nectar. Natural plumeria fragrance consists of as many as 60 volatile plant compounds. The white, pink, and yellow cultivars usually contain more scent than the reds or rainbow colored bloom, and
Natural Incense: you don’t need to be…..
2010-11-12 13:46:37
You don’t need to be a yogi or a meditator to burn incense. You don’t need to believe in strange Eastern cults or shave your head or chant Om six times a day. You don’t need to believe in a deity, or be aware of your third eye, or have had your chakras aligned by a swami wearing saffron robes. You don’t need to be a hippie, or favour kurta pyjamas over tracksuit bottoms. You don’t need to own a Tibetan singing bowl, or a homeopathic medicine kit, or eat granola for breakfast. You don’t need to know Tai Chi forms, or what a hara is, or how to breathe from your solar plexus so that your prana is better circulated. You don’t need to wear white to like incense, or to be able to touch your toes with your forehead. You don’t need to attend satsangs
Yoga Incense

Yoga is not simply about asana, as so many in the West believe. The word means ‘union’ and, as it was originally intended, is a tool for transformation. Atman, the individual soul, must come to realise that he is one and the same as Brahman, the Universe itself. It is the belief that we are separate isolated parts of a hostile universe which leads to suffering. Freedom from this has been pointed to by numerous sages, from Patanjali, to Buddha, to Lao Tzu, to Mooji. It is in recognising that what we are is this present moment. Nothing else. Dhuni natural incense sticks are made with devotional practice in mind. They’re lovingly handrolled from ethically sourced plant botanicals, and contain no chemicals, toxic glues, or charcoal of any kind. They’re a simple conglome
Trust us, this is a little different….

We burn incense for a variety of reasons: to make our house or place of work smell nice, to give a little nod to the divine, to offset unpleasant odours, to create an ambience for a yoga class or therapy treatment. Those are all great reasons, but the thing which perplexes us here at Dhuni is how used we’ve got to mediocrity; how complacent are noses are that they’re prepared to accept the mass produced, chemical joss sticks which are the norm out there today.. To be honest, even in serious yoga shalas, and certainly across most of India, the kind of stuff they’re burning is basically a stick of charcoal dipped into some kind of essential oil or, even worse, a chemical fragrance of some kind. This is not good for our bodies, not good for our spirits, and certainly not goo
