We all have heard/studied/read about the Product Lifecycle(PLC).The concept says that Product like a human being has a finite life.It grows, matures and then dies.
Lets take an example.Floppy Disk is no longer available now but it was a hot cake at one time.Even till 2001-02 floppies existed in market.The product just died.
Brands on the other hand don’t exactly follow a life cycle.Brands can be immortal unless they commit suicide.Brand and product are closely related.A brand is nothing without a product or service but brand can evolve over the time.

When i was doing my MBA in marketing,Intel’s Intel Inside campaign was my favourite campaign of all times.I was in love with the campaign.Many marketing books take it as a case study(on ingredient marketing).
Now from past few months,Intel inside has changed to Intel-sponsors of tomorrow.I still miss Intel Inside as such but the new campaign is just awesome.
Intel has been aggressive on this new campaign and even ads have been quite visible on Indian channels and even during IPL.

I recently saw this new ad campaign of Volkswagen Polo.I was like WOW.The ads are very fresh.After Figo coming out with interesting ads highlighting the features of their car,Polo takes a step ahead and actually demonstrates the features in a fun manner.
The ads are customer oriented.Whenever a new car(or product) is launched a potential customer has a lot of unanswered questions in his mind.
What is the mileage ? What are the safety measures ? What are the specs ? What are the extra features in this car ?

Soul Pickles – Food of Desire ?

Few days back i saw these hoardings in Bandra,Mumbai.
I looked closely and took a picture of it too.
These hoardings looked well designed,colorful and of some luxurious product.But when i saw the product a bit closely.I saw that Soul was a brand of pickles.
I could not believe that this actually is an ad for a pickle brand.But after looking at it to the extent that bystanders started to see me with the same expression i was looking at the hoarding,I was confirmed that it is a pickle ad.

In recent times,we have seen a kind of rise in number of lemon based drinks in India.All the beverage makers are moving towards health based drinks as the consumer is demanding that.
Coca Cola,Pepsi,Parle Agro all have jumped in the pool with brands Minute Maid Lemon,Nimbooz and LMN respectively.
Nimbooz was the first brand that was launched in market which was positioned as natural lemon refresher.I was positioned as asli indian,asli nimbu(Real Indian,Real Lemon).

‘Wow’ is the favorite word of Pepsi these days.Last time around it was ‘Youngistaan’.Now these both words have combined to from ‘Youngistaan ka wow’.
The campaign was launched on March 1.There were OOH ads all over the cities,then came the commercial featuring Ranbir Kapoor.
Then just 2 3 days back,Pepsi launched the next commercial,Pepsi-The Game featuring Ranbir Kapoor and surprisingly Sanjay Dutt who i thought was content with Ads like Navaratan Tel and Goa Pan Masala .

Videocon is creating a lot of buzz off late.First new logo then then D2H then mobile and now mobile services.Videocon has become the 13th mobile operator in India.There was a time when people just knew Airtel and Hutch(Orange) or at max Reliance(for CDMA) but now times have changed.Competition is intense.
But will number 13 prove lucky for Videocon ?
